Emma Suárez Báez was born in Ponce, P.R. to a feminist without a tag and a man who walked to school without shoes. She left the island at seventeen following her muse—ballet. Writing is the thread that allows her to stitch together the loss of cultural and relational continuity to the complex experiences that leaving your country brings. Her work appears in What Have you Lost?, Where Beach Meets Ocean, Off The Coast, Bronx Memoir Project, 3 Nations Anthology, Love Letters To Gaia, among many others. She presented Tampons at The Moth. Emma worked with children and teachers in the Bronx.
