Desandando el Camino
Your home-quest begins
with grandma’s lullabies
hanging heavy over
your dreams,
a choir of chicharras
pulsing outside your window
in the evening heat.
Her fingers till
dirt rows in your pelo
leading you to places
she’ll never see.
Follow ese camino
that leads to the river
find her prayers
by the reedbed
interchanging with the current
things you’ve left behind:
la Biblia de cuero
el padre nuestro
ropa mojada para colgar.

Healer
para abuelis
When you cover my neck with damp cloth,
You make fireflies inside my throat
fly out my half-opened window,
into the blue of night.

El Paraná de Tu Pupila
para mi madre
Tus pasos desandan la corriente del rio
en dominio de aquellos recuerdos que no
pudiste empacar.
Como escamas esparcidas en el agua,
trozos de espejos estelares destallan
en el Paraná de tu pupila cada vez que
tu madre pronuncia tu nombre,
su voz eternamente tuya le cantara
al rio en cuna, hasta que aquel devuelva
tu alegría en abundancia.
