BIO
Carmen Milagro Taveras (Milagrito) is the daughter of Dominican Immigrants. Before becoming a School Counselor for the NYC DOE 7 years ago, she was a salsa dancer for almost a decade. When she wasn’t dancing, she was feeding her creative mind reading or writing. She dabbled in spoken word under the guidance and encouragement of the brilliant Peggy Robles-Alvarado in 2015. Carmen continues to find her voice in the many roles she plays – a daughter, a partner, friend, paw-rent, school counselor to tiny humans and as a woman. Finding the courage to express herself through, movement and words, shedding the cultural expectation of “callada te vez más bonita”! Carmen was born and raised in Park Slope Brooklyn. She currently resides in NJ with her partner and pup.
Asiento de dolor
Aguántate, en el silencio
Trágate el duelo
Acomódate con la pesadez en tu pecho
Sella tus labios
