BIO
Juviza is a Dominican-Salvadoran writer, visual storyteller, public health professional, and child of immigrants. Born and raised in the vibrant community of Washington Heights (NYC), Juviza is deeply influenced by her lived experience. Her pieces explore culture, matrilineality, and the daily unspoken stressors first-generation children face. She explores these same themes in her public health work, which focuses on how neighborhood design affects women and children of color across the life course. Juviza’s writing has been published in Palabritas (Harvard), The Washington Heights Memoir Project (Dominican Writers Association), and featured by the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!).IG: @juvirod and @theblacknbrownphd
